Let’s get back to 2019 and remember the most impressive moments of the first quarter of the second season of the Overwatch League. The best matches are united in the shortlist below.
BOSTON UPRISING VS DALLAS FUEL – WEEK 5
This match seems to be the one to determine a potential team for a playoff spot. It was surrounded by some curious facts. The leading tank of the Uprising, Fusion got into the starting lineup at the last moment before the match. He and Zenyatta were supposed to be a serious pair to crash Dallas.
The game started with two maps confident leadership of Dallas. The third map, King’s Row should be the same but Uprising managed to fight back in the middle of the map and resist from the power of the enemy, especially, Sombra who was good the first maps. In the end, Boston destroyed the opponent during the 4th map and grabbed the last one too.
VANCOUVER TITANS VS CHENGDU HUNTERS – WEEK 4
Vancouver Titans justify their name and supposed to be immortal till their match with Chengdu Hunters. Hunters could adapt their game plan to a strict opponent and show diversified game methods. They used different compositions including unexpected from them triple tank as well as triple support.
Actually, Vancouver didn’t want to give up, so all the way there was a severe fight. A leader who ruled the game from the team of Hunters was Ameng, the main tank, who played well on Reinhardt and Hammond. He succeeded in counter-striking but it wasn’t enough.
Finally, Titans managed to break out and win one of the best matches that became an example of an interesting strategy practiced by an underdog which almost overcame the favorite with score 2-3.
NEW YORK EXCELSIOR VS SEOUL DYNASTY – STAGE QUARTERFINALS
Nobody expected such a great performance of Seoul Dynasty that day. Experts predicted that New York Excelsior must meet Vancouver Titans in spectacular final but it didn’t happen. Despite Dynasty was beaten by NYXL previously in a regular-season game, they learned from their own mistakes and prepared for a new game much better.
The truth is that New York used their usual strategy of the passive game while Seoul fought via Sombra composition. As they (particularly Michelle) got ready for the usage of ultimate against NYXL, they attacked well.
This almost best match happened to be a strategic and tactic fault of NYXL and a victory of well-prepared underdog having demonstrated a dynamic quarterfinal.
VANCOUVER TITANS VS SAN FRANSISCO SHOCK – STAGE FINALS
It was a memorable final worth watching. Titans and Shock spent fierce 6 maps battle but in the end, the 7th one became the key moment for Titans. All members of Shock’s team did all their best, and in every aspect of the game, one of them was visibly the best. King’s Row was led by Viol2t, while Moth was the whole game hero, etc.
Though all this sounds great, we’re talking about powerful and skilled Titans, and they didn’t miss a chance to win in an exclusive manner. They could grab Rialto which is known to be a hard map, in breathtaking 4 min and 26 sec and therefore had more time at the end of the game than when started.
Overwatch fan-base must have enjoyed the final best match full of drama, competition, and luck!
