Bad Decisions in Sports: Top 15 Inane Athletes

A high level of intelligence, as a rule, is not necessary for athletes. After all, their main task is to do sports well. Still, some sportsmen are remarkably inane. Lower is the list of fifteen athletes who can be regarded as quite thick-headed.

15. AQIB TALIB

A talented cornerback in the NFL, Aqib Talib is not always into a fair game. He is notorious for poking an opponent in the eye for the sake of victory. However, later he tried denying doing it on purpose.

14. ADAM JONES

Off-the-field conduct seems to be a signature move of Adam “Pacman” Jones. For example, one of his latest acts was a rant towards the Pittsburgh Steelers.

13. NDAMUKONG SUH

Ndamukong Suh is well-known for dirty play. Committing dirty acts on the field seems to be part of his gaming strategy. This even leads to his opponents’ necessity to change their game plans a lot.

12. DERRICK ROSE

Controversial both on- and off-field, Derrick Rose often speaks without thorough thinking-over. Sometimes his words puzzle even his peers.

11. J.R. SMITH

In an attempt to earn a bigger sum of money, J.R. Smith left the Cleveland Cavaliers. Unfortunately, he didn’t manage to find a better proposition, so he had to return for slightly less money.

10. JAVALE MCGEE

Despite having potential, Javale McGee will probably remain on the sidelines due to his quite low basketball I.Q.

9. RAJON RONDO

Having spoken without proper thinking, Rajon Rondo got into trouble with an NBA referee. After all, using hate language, making homophobic and offensive comments, is unacceptable both on- and off-field.

8. YASIEL PUIG

Yasiel Puig has been known as a promising player – a future star in the MLB. And it wasn’t that long ago. However, everything has changed since investigation on him started: domestic violence and problems with teammates, what a mix! Probably, something went wrong at some point, and some bad decisions were made. All of that did not go unnoticed for the public.

7. STEPHEN A. SMITH

Being a great journalist, Stephen A. Smith has numerous acquaintances in the sphere of his work. However, his knowledge of other kinds of sports seems to be quite limited. He tries to hide it, of course, but laughter and clichés cannot work forever.

6. FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.

Although Floyd Mayweather Jr. shows great results on the boxing ring, it seems like he is not as good at controlling his behavior outside the ring. The decisions he makes are not always the wisest ones, and Mayweather’s fans often criticize his involvement in some incidents.

5. MANNY PACQUIAO

The main mistake of Manny Pacquiao after being defeated by Floyd Mayweather was to show disrespect. This stupid decision didn’t get an understanding from Pacquiao’s fans.

4. ROB MANFRED

Rob Manfred denied reinstatement of Pete Rose, who was banned from baseball for almost thirty years. It seems like the punishment has been served, but Manfred appears to think differently.

3. BUD SELIG

Not introducing minorities, and, in particular, African-Americans, to baseball, has been a great mistake, made by a former MLB commissioner Bud Selig. This decision led to numerous lost opportunities, and baseball still lags behind largely due to it.

2. SKIP BAYLESS

Almost thirty years in sports made Skip Bayless a pro, who had a deep understanding of the sphere. But once a good journalist, he now has become an ordinary T.V. personality with mediocre judgments.

1.PETE CARROLL

Probably one of the worst events in NFL history happened with the direct participation of Pete Carroll. His team was close to scoring a touchdown: Marshawn Lynch would only need to run for a yard or two to score. However, the New England Patriots managed to win the game, as a pass play was called instead of that.
